Welcome to South Loop

Live

A historically rich and continually developing Chicago neighborhood, the South Loop has recently been named the fastest growing neighborhood in America by Chicago Magazine. The South Loop is bound by Lake Shore Drive on the east, Chicago River to the west, and south to Roosevelt Road. South Loop condos, lofts, townhouses, rowhouses, and single-family homes define this professional-friendly neighborhood. The South Loop (once home to Mayor Richard Daley) has become a quick favorite of young professionals. Situated closely to Chicago’s famous museum campus and Grant Park, the South Loop is also home to Columbia College and a growing number of students and professionals.

Play

As the neighborhood continues to grow and develop, new culinary hot spots are popping up throughout the South Loop. Dining options include the trendy Zapatista for Mexican fare along with bars such as Tantrum, Tavern Tap Pub, and Kasey’s. The laid-back restaurants and bars create a leisurely nightlife for South Loop residents. And the South Loop community center provides an endless array of activities for singles and families.

The museums of the South Loop invite crowds of Chicago residents, tourists, and families throughout the year to see the ever-changing and incredible exhibits of the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, The Field Museum, and the Museum of Science and Industry; of course, the South Loop is also home to the famed Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears.

Love

The South Loop holds a true piece of Chicago’s rich history, including the first Quinn Chapel, built in 1892, and Chicago’s famous Clarke House, built-in 1836 (which is considered to be the oldest standing house in Chicago). The historic Motor Row and Printer’s Row are becoming home to popular loft-style Chicago apartments. Unlike the loop itself, South loop Chicago home values are slightly lower, inviting a growing number of students and young professionals. Once an entirely industrial neighborhood, the architecture of the South Loop gives way to beautiful and trendy Chicago lofts along with several developing high-rise buildings, rowhouses, townhouses, and single-family homes. This neighborhood truly defines “up and coming” as it continues to grow from an industrial area to a populated, trendy and busy residential area for many Chicago residents. Unique views of the city and the lake can be seen from many of the homes in the South Loop.

Easily accessible to Lake Shore Drive, the South Loop is a short drive to Midway Airport and also offers access to I-90 for the drive to O’Hare Airport. Transportation is facilitated by the Roosevelt stop, offering access to all train lines – it’s difficult to find access to the suburbs and the city from one central location, but the South Loop can do it!
